It’s best to base yourself on 2-3 islands and go on day trips if you wanted to see more islands within ten days. You could also go on a day trip to Santorini from another island with a tour company.

A road trip in Cornwall is a fantastic holiday choice. Plymouth is located just miles away from Cornwall. The city is also an excellent choice of destination, and there’s plenty to see and do, especially with kids in tow. 

Plymouth is a port city with a rich military history. One of the main outdoor sights is the Barbican. Explore the hundreds of fishing boats and yachts docked, try some of the UK’s best fish and chips or find the Mayflower Steps, where the Pilgrims set off to discover America. Within walking distance of the Barbican is Plymouth Hoe, home to Smeatons Tower and stunning views out to sea towards Plymouth Sound. There’s plenty of open space here for the kids to run around too!

The National Marine Aquarium is a must-visit on a trip to Plymouth with kids. Explore the largest aquarium in the UK and spot over 4000 different species.

You should also consider where to stay in Plymouth on your trip. I recommend staying in the city centre, where there are various accommodation options to suit all budgets. For a place to stay with cooking facilities, consider staying in the Fox House Studios, at the heart of Plymouth’s shopping area and very nearby the Barbican. 

If you’re on a budget, the city centre has three Premier Inn’s which all feature family rooms at reasonable prices, as well as the chance to add on breakfast. The Travelodge also has some excellent deals. The best place to stay in the city centre is the Juries Inn, which has comfy beds and an excellent breakfast.

The Zhongyuan Festival, which is known as China’s Hungry Ghost Festival, is also called the Ullambana Festival in the Buddhist religion. This festival falls on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month yearly. On the Western calendar, that translates to a date in August. 

During this time, it is believed that the gates of hell open, so activities are held to honor or appease the ghosts. The people offer articles on the festival day so relatives and parents can be saved from bad things in the afterlife. 

Folk customs are followed during the festival. One of the main traditions involves releasing a water lantern, also called a lotus lantern, onto streams or lakes. A candle is placed inside the lotus-shaped light before it is released.

Paper money is also burned so ancestors can use it in the netherworld. Naturally, you may not want to take part in this traditional activity.

The Ghost Festival is quite a popular event among the Chinese and is not only celebrated in Beijing and on the mainland, but also in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The celebration has also spread to places, such as North Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

A word of caution. You do not want to do certain things if you visit China or Beijing during the Ghost Festival. For example, it is taboo to step over, kick, or touch any roadside offerings. 

Also never look beneath a prayer alter and do not lean against or sit on an offering table. You also do not want to sit in the front row during a street performance or stay up too late. Never stand under a bus stop or tree, and don’t get involved in water-related activities.

In addition, you should not wear clothing that is red or black and do not tap anyone on the shoulder or head.

What you wear on a Death Valley trip will depend on the time you plan to visit the site, which is part of the U.S. National Park Service. Not only is the park the largest of all U.S. national parks, it sits at the lowest elevation, and is the driest and hottest.

The best time to see the park is usually in late October. That is when camping season starts, but it is less crowded. Temperatures range from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. 

If you go in the winter, or November to February, the temperatures hover between 40 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow may also fall at higher elevations. While Death Valley is indeed dry, the most precipitation falls during the winter months. Moreover, heavy rains can prove to be hazardous. Flash floods can occur at any time.

The heat can be insufferable from May to early October, with high temperatures staying constant both day and night. Park officials may close certain campgrounds frequently warn against outdoor activities during this time.

If your spring trip falls in March, then you will pay less than you would in April or May. The absolute cheapest time to travel in Naples is in early February.
