• Hidiv Kasri

This palace is located in the centre of a park and has many unique cafes and restaurants. Even if you are short on time, this place is a must-visit if you are on the Eastern side of Turkey.

• Terrace of Tapasuma

The Terrace of Tapasuma is a breathtaking sight with exceptional food. The lights of the Bosporus bridge changes from pink to yellow and many other colours from pink to yellow and many different colours. This restaurant is located on the grounds of Sumahan on the water hotel.

Ho Chi Minh City is an enormous city without public transportation, causing your accessibility to local attractions to be quite important. I suggest you find accommodation in either District 1 (the city center) or the adjoining District 3. District 1 is the most modern and busiest area of Ho Chi Minh City. It is home to the famous Ben Thanh market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and a lot of shopping centers. The sidewalks in District 3 are also a bit wider and less busy than many streets in District 1. Additionally, District 3 is an ideal location for shoppers. There are many streets lined with boutiques, but the prices can be higher than some of the markets in District 1. The War Remnants Museum is a popular yet harrowing destination depicting the Vietnam- American war.

District 3 also has a lively food scene scattered with trendy restaurants and charming coffee shops. It is also where you can find Turtle Lake which isn’t really a lake but an architectural water feature. At night it comes alive with street vendors and young locals. 

Regardless of which you choose, you are going to be right in the middle of all the action and will have a plethora of accommodations to fit your travel style. 

While both are sure to provide a memorable stay, I suggest New Town for your first visit. This part of Prague is still extremely historical, however, it has undergone more modern development through the years so you will be closer to more modern hotels, bars, and restaurants. 

In New Town, you will also be right next to the Dancing House, Wenceslas Square, and Narodni Muzeum. You will also be directly next to the art and music culture of the town, such as the classical concert venue, Art Nouveau Municipal House, or the Grand National Theatre which hosts plays, operas, and ballet.

Not to mention, a walk to Old Town is just across the bridge! The city of Prague is relatively small and easy to navigate so whichever destination you choose, you are guaranteed to have a memorable stay.

Ganaraska Hiking Trail

Ganaraska Hiking Trail runs five hundred kilometers from Port Hope to Collingwood, meeting the Bruce Trail. The trail is divided into eight sections: Pine Ridge “(63 kilometers)”, Kawartha “(75 kilometers)”, Wilderness “(65 kilometers)”, Orilla “(70 kilometers)”, Barrie “(50 kilometers)”, Wasaga Beach “(51 kilometers)”, Midland “(35 kilometers)”, and Oro-Medonte. Travel about six kilometers north of Moore Falls on the Deep Bay Road (County Road 2), then turn left on the Devil’s Lake Road to get to this trail. There is plenty of parking at Devil’s Lake’s landing.

La Cloche Silhouette Trail

It is regarded as one of the most challenging trails in Ontario, and your efforts will be rewarded with breath-taking views, lakes, streams, rolling hills, and forest areas. Make camp at any of the 54 trailside campsites along the way (permits are required). Keep an eye out for wildlife signs. The George Lake Campground serves as both the starting and ending point for the trail. This trail has ground markings, with blue markings for navigation and yellow markings for camping sites. It is recommended that you keep track of the marked locations.

Kabeyun Trail

The Kabeyun hiking trail Ontario is located near Shuniah Ontario and is 36.7 kilometers long. It takes approximately six to ten hours to complete the entire trail. It is the best hiking trail for the adventurous off-grid enthusiast. The hiking trail has specific times because it is open all year. Dogs are welcome to accompany you on your hike, but they must be kept on a leash at all times.

 

Nokomis Trail

The Nokomis Trail is 2.8 miles long and 4.5 kilometers long, and it is located near the Algoma district. It is usually the best hiking trail to take a break from a long drive, but it is also an ideal trail for hikers. You will be able to see the old women’s river as it flows through a lake bed with ancient cobblestones. It is said that the best time to visit this hiking trail is from May to October when the scenery is green and peaceful.

Prague is a magical, fairytale-like city lined with stunning architecture and historical features. A must-see spot is the well-preserved, 12th century Old Town Square. It is home to a number of historical attractions such as Old Town Hall, Prague Astronomical Clock, the Church of St. Nicholas, and the Church of Our Lady before Tyn.

Another must-see is the iconic Charles Bridge. Dating back to 1357, this is a popular tourist spot so try to visit it at dawn or dusk for an uninterrupted experience. On the other side of the bridge is Prague Castle. This castle has stood for more than 1,000 years and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Venture out of the city center to Petrin Hill where you can marvel at the gardens before making your way up to the Petrin Observation Tower. Climb nearly 300 steps to gain extraordinary views of the entire city. 

Ho Chi Minh City is a culinary dream. The cuisine is versatile, authentic, and unlike anything you’ve tried before. While Pho is a delicious dish you must try, there are a number of other amazing meals you should know in order to eat like a local. 

The first is Com Tam, or broken rice. You will see signs for Com Tam littered all over town for the famous dish. It is comprised of fractured pieces of white rice served with a smoky flavored pork chop that is both salty and sweet. Don’t forget to pour some fish sauce over the top to complete the meal!

Another quintessential dish is Banh Mi. This famous sandwich is served on a baguette and topped with pickled vegetables and your favorite protein. A common order is pork, pickled vegetables, pate, butter, soy sauce, coriander, chilies, and hot peppers. Feel free to try other variations such as with an egg or different meat such as chicken!

You’ve likely heard this advice, but it is worth reiterating to pack lightly. Southeast Asian cities are crowded and chaotic. Wheeling around a suitcase is not feasible on the jam-packed, uneven sidewalks; especially not during the rainy season! Instead, invest in a sturdy, lightweight backpack for your essentials. Another perk to packing lightly is it leaves extra space for the souvenirs you know you’ll want to buy!

What you pack should also depend on the time of year. The northern regions of Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos can be quite chilly in the months of November-April with temperatures reaching the low teens. In contrast, from May-October is the rainy season and you are likely to be caught in a monsoon. Your umbrella will be no match for the heavy rains of SE Asia so swap it out for a quality raincoat and a good pair of shoes. Locals will be seen sporting ponchos that you can buy on the side of the road for under $1.00.

Koman is a town in northern Albania’s Shkodran County, in the former Temal municipality. It takes about 4 hours to drive from Theth to Koman. July in Koman sees daily highs of 39°C and nighttime lows of 25°C.

Tirana

Tirana, Albania’s capital and largest city, is a vibrant and fast-paced metropolis. Muzeum Historik Kombetar and House of Leaves provide cultural insights. Step out of Tirana and head to Petrele to see Petrela Castle, about 32 minutes away. Koman to Tirana is a three-hour drive. Alternatively, you can combine a car and a bus. When traveling from Koman in July, expect slightly cooler evenings in Tirana, with lows around 20°C.

Berat

Berat is a World Heritage Site because it is a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman style. Consider the tranquillity of Halveti Teqe, then see the interesting displays at the National Ethnographic Museum Berat, then examine the collection at the National Iconographic Museum Onufri, and finally admire the landmark architecture of Berat Castle. It takes 2 hours to drive from Tirana to Berat. Temperatures in Berat in July range between 38°C during the day and 20°C at night.’

Vlore

Vlora is Albania’s third-largest city and municipality. Take a break from Vlore by visiting Apollonia Archaeological Park in Pojan, about 58 minutes away.

The Stone City

Gjirokastra, along with the central Albanian town of Berat, is a striking World Heritage Site known for its Ottoman architecture. It takes 2 hours to drive from Vlore to Gjirokaster. Alternatively, you can take a train and a bus. It takes one hour to travel from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Eastern European Standard Time (EET).
