Due to the demise of Genting Hong Kong, the previous owner of Crystal Cruises, the ship Global Dream was left unfinished and has now been acquired by Disney Cruise Line.
The ship will have a new name and some features that have been reinvented with the Walt Disney brand will set sail from the US to new ports in 2025.
“Our cruise ships give us the unique opportunity to bring Disney magic to fans no matter where they are, and the addition of this ship will make a Disney Cruise Line vacation accessible to more families than ever before,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
Along with entertainment and dining options, the new ship will offer Disney experiences, and its exterior will be painted in the fleet’s colors, which were inspired by Mickey Mouse, complete with distinctive red funnels.
The green methanol, one of the lowest emission fuels available, will be used to power the 208,000 gross tonne ship, making it one of the industry’s first cruise ships to do so.
With about 2,300 crew members, Disney Cruise Line anticipates a capacity of about 6,000 passengers.
At a later time, more information about the inaugural trip’s itineraries and onboard activities will be released.
