Universal Studios Japan will open Super Nintendo World next week on 18th March 2021. The new Nintendo attraction will be the first of its kind globally and will create an incentive for foreign visitors to book holidays in Japan. The opening of the new attraction has been delayed repeatedly as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic, and will open a year after originally scheduled.
The 18th March grand opening will be the starting event to launch the 20th anniversary year-long celebration of the Osaka theme park.
Renowned Nintendo characters will feature in the entertainment events during the celebration. The new attraction includes restaurants, shops and themed rides based on Mario Kart and Yoshi. Super Nintendo World will be the first multi-level land at the Osaka theme park.
Super Nintendo World is expected to come to Universal’s Orlando, Hollywood and Singapore parks following the Japan opening however, the Florida theme park has reportedly been delayed until 2025. Construction on the Hollywood version of Super Nintendo World has resumed however it is expected to be smaller in scale than the others. Those wishing to experience this Super Nintendo World in the next 2-3 years will therefore only be able to do so if they book a Japan holiday.
