As part of its ongoing efforts to further strengthen its sustainability practises and environmental responsibility, flag carrier Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has added new onboard amenities for business class passengers flying between Scandinavia and the US or Asia during the busiest travel period of the year.
A Fresh Comfort Kit
The SAS Comfort Kit, a package of amenities provided to travellers travelling in business class, has always included carefully chosen items from Scandinavian companies that emphasise environmentally friendly manufacture and cutting-edge design.
It’s important to note that the locally branded products included in the new comfort kit remain the same as previously and include the following:
As part of the airline’s most recent partnership with renowned Swedish bedding and mattress manufacturer Dux, one key distinction between the new comfort kit and the previous one is that travellers will now receive their amenities in a bag organiser. Additionally, there are three various kinds of kits, including a washing bag, a shoe bag, and a travel pouch.
A new collaboration with Dux
As a result of Dux’s relationship with SAS on the new comfort kits, the airline’s long-standing collaboration with the Swedish womenswear company Filippa K has come to an end after more than four years. The comfort kits from the most recent collaboration with Filippa K were shown in sleek washbags in three colors—petrol, black, and beige—that were both contemporary and fashionable.
Even if the socks wouldn’t be colour matched, each comfort package came with unobtrusive sleep masks in a complementary colour. The comfort kits would eventually be modified somewhat from fashionable washbags to a specific form of Flippa K case, even though all of these fancy term modifications still refer to something that looks like a pouch. The zip tag would also bear the name of the airline.
The new comfort kit comes in two colours, grey and orange, with comparable matching coloured sleep masks, which is a welcome change from the previous comfort kit’s colour scheme, which appeared very drab and dark. Along with Dux, the airline’s name is highlighted by more noticeable distinguishing elements on the new kits.
To Sum Up
There were no pyjama sets or slippers in the former Flippa K comfort kit, and other than the brands offered, it lacked any distinctive Scandinavian touches. Passengers frequently complained about how bare-bones and basic it was in comparison to business class amenities from other international carriers.
Therefore, even though the new comfort kits are better in terms of colour and design, keeping the same standard amenities may not enhance the overall passenger experience. The lack of amenity packages is unlikely to drive passengers to choose another airline, so perhaps sustainability and minimalism in this area are still the ideal investments for the Star Alliance member.
