When Madeira switches to the green watchlist on Wednesday, it has confirmed that non-vaccinated visitors would not be quarantined.
Visitors from the United Kingdom will be compelled to quarantine if they have not taken both doses of a recognized Covid vaccine, according to Portugal.
Madeira tourist officials, on the other hand, stated the island will “welcome all UK travelers without quarantine, whether vaccinated or not, in accordance with government laws to safeguard everyone’s safety.”
Those who have received both vaccines or who have recovered from Covid will not be subjected to testing before entering Madeira. Those who have not been vaccinated must still present a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival, or take a free test and isolate pending the findings.
A free PCR test is available to each tourist upon arrival or departure, with results available in six to 12 hours.
According to a statement: “The Covid-19 situation in Madeira is under excellent control. There are no cases of the Delta variant currently. In the past month there has been a 73% decrease in active cases and there are only 61 active cases – there are 18 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days as of 27 June, which remains one of the lowest rates in Europe.”
“Furthermore, more than one-third of the population has been fully vaccinated and the tourism sector is soon going to complete its vaccination program. In Porto Santo, Madeira’s sister island, 70% of the population older than 16 are fully vaccinated, which means that the island has reached group immunization.”
The message also verified that the curfew has been reduced to 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Restaurants can stay open till midnight for dinner.
