After more than a year of lockdowns and limitations, Jet2 and Jet2CityBreaks have resumed flights to Iceland.
This morning, the first flight to Iceland took off from Manchester Airport (Thursday).
From 30th September, Manchester and Birmingham will have twice-weekly flights.
The Manchester and Birmingham links will be operational until 1st November, just in time to see the Northern Lights.
In addition to the scheduled flights, 37 three- and four-night journeys are available from Belfast International, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Stansted.
Scheduled flights will resume from Manchester on 10th February to 10th November next year, and from Birmingham on 10th February to 25th April.
Steve Heapy, the company’s CEO, stated: “We are delighted to be starting scheduled services to Iceland and offering the best choice for regional departures to this epic natural wonder.
“With Iceland being on the UK government’s green list, we are seeing strong demand for flights and holidays to this bucket list destination, as customers look to escape and make the most of being able to enjoy the beauty that Iceland offers.
“As we have a leading regional programme of departures available, which includes scheduled flights and once-in-a-lifetime trips from across our network of UK bases, our customers have the biggest and best flexibility when it comes to visiting the Nordic Island.”
Guomundur Daoi Runarsson, Keflavik Airport’s chief commercial and development officer, added: “We are delighted to welcome Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks back.
“They have been valued partners for the past few years and we look forward to continuing that for years to come.
“Jet2.com and Jet2CityBreaks have brought forward flights to their new destination of Manchester. This is confirmation of the growing interest in Iceland as a destination post-pandemic.”
