From Monday, all tourists from the United Kingdom will be required to quarantine for five days upon arrival in Italy.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced the action, as concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 Delta version mount.
Italy was rumored to be mulling such a step, making it the latest country to implement limitations. From Tuesday, the Netherlands made mandatory quarantine for UK immigrants, and Germany, Austria, and France have also imposed restrictions.
According to Reuters, Speranza said the installation of restrictions for UK visitors will coincide with the relaxation of restrictions for visitors from the United States, Canada, Japan, and other EU countries who have a green permit confirming they have been vaccinated or recently tested negative.
