Israel’s tourism ministry is working on plans to allow individual vaccinated tourists to visit the country from the beginning of November.
Currently, only organized groups of between five and 30 tourists from “green, yellow and orange” countries are allowed to visit Israel.
The Israel Government Tourist Office (IGTO) said 34,500 tourist entries were recorded in September 2021, compared to just 15,100 in September 2020 – and 405,000 in September 2019.
Last month’s figure represents a year-on-year increase of 128% but it is 91.5% down on September 2019.
The IGTO stated that the relaxation of visitor entry requirements is “in order to rehabilitate the tourism industry and ensure that the hundreds of thousands of people working in the industry can make a life.”
Its most recent ad, Two Cities, One Break, promotes visitors to visit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
