Covid PCR test cost reduced to £60

The price of Covid PCR tests has been reduced to £60 by the UK’s largest PCR test provider.

The £60 test is for on an online-ordered testing kit from Randox. Once the user has completed the test, the sample is sent to a laboratory for processing.

VAT, shipping, and sample collection are all included in the price. When booking flights and holidays, customers can use a discount code provided by their airline or tour operator to order the test kit at the discounted rate.

“We can see the pressures faced by the both the travel industry and the general public and are committed to effective and economical testing to support holidaymakers and those undertaking international travel,” said Randox managing director Dr Peter FitzGerald.

PCR tests usually cost £100 or more. Gatwick has been offering tests for £60 at its terminals and Jet2 has partners who sell them for £75.

Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, has stated that he intends to reduce the cost of coronavirus testing in order to allow people to travel abroad this summer.
