For the first time since January, British Airways has resumed daily flights from London to Dubai.
The national carrier has also increased the number of flights from the UK to India from 10 to twenty as of this week.
The actions are in response to the government’s recent traffic light assessment, which placed the UAE and India on the amber travel list and removed them from the red list. The adjustments, which were announced on 4th August, took effect on 8th August.
At 22.25 p.m., the Dubai flights depart London Heathrow. They arrive in Dubai at 8.25 a.m. the following morning.
Sohail Ali, BA’s senior vice president of airport operations for the Middle East and Africa, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our customers onboard our flights and are delighted to be able to reunite families and friends with their loved ones after such a long time apart.
“The safety of our customers and colleagues has always been at the heart of everything we do. We have introduced a range of measures to provide stress and hassle-free travel.”
The additional flights to India are in response to the change in traffic lights and the Indian government’s decision to enable UK carriers to run additional flights, boosting the weekly cap from 15 to 34 per week.
From London, BA will now offer 20 direct roundtrip flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
The extra flights, according to Moran Birger, BA’s head of sales for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, came after months of travel uncertainty created by the Covid-19 outbreak.
“These additional new flights will help our clients who have waited so long to see their loved ones in India to reunite with them,” he added.
Customers can swap their reservations for a voucher or modify their dates without paying an amendment fee according to the airline’s flexible booking policy.
