Barbados will relax restrictions on overseas arrivals starting next Wednesday (1st June), with unvaccinated visitors allowed to enter with a negative test taken within three days of arrival.
PCR and antigen tests will both be permitted.
Unvaccinated immigrants will be required to take a further test upon arrival unless they can demonstrate that they have recovered from Covid-19 within the previous 90 days.
Those who are forced to take the test upon arrival will be allowed to leave the airport if the result is negative and will not be quarantined.
The reduction of restrictions for unvaccinated travelers comes after an initial relaxation for fully vaccinated arrivals earlier this week.
The new rules took effect on Wednesday (25th May), and they eliminated the requirement for a negative test to be provided for admittance.
The improvements come as 70% of Barbados’ eligible population is completely vaccinated.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stated about the move for immunized travelers: “We had a 90% decline in the number of visitors in the last two years. [Now] we are significantly on our way back up.”
