British Airways has announced that it will soon offer rapid Covid testing kits which have government approval. The tests, which are produced by Qured, will be available to passengers at a discounted price of £33.
Passengers will conduct an online video consultation with a health advisor who will guide them through the process of conducting the nose and throat swab. The advisor will then guide the passenger through the procedure for processing the sample.
The rapid antigen tests will be portable and can be taken by passengers with them anywhere in the world. Verified results will be processed within 20 minutes and once delivered, the customer will be able to download a ‘fit to fly’ certificate if the test result comes back negative.
British Airways has already commenced a trial with the VeriFLY mobile travel health passport app on select routes. The new rapid test kit will be compatible with the app and travellers will be able to upload their negative results to the VeriFLY platform.
Sean Doyle, British Airways’ chief executive, said: “Our teams were pleased to discover Qured, a unique new option which removes uncertainty and unnecessary expense for customers who may be concerned about sourcing a pre-departure test while away from home.”
Alex Templeton, Qured’s chief executive, added: “Our accessible rapid testing service takes the hassle out of finding a test abroad.”
