The 1 Hotel Mayfair made its premiere as the first European property of the mission-driven portfolio on 13th July 2023. With the introduction of a destination, community, and platform for change for both tourists and Londoners, 1 Hotel Mayfair is creating a new standard for luxury with a smaller environmental impact in London.
The eight-story urban retreat, which is situated on Berkeley Street with a view of Green Park, is close to lush areas like St James’ Park and Hyde Park, upscale shops, West End theatres, and renowned museums and galleries like The Royal Academy.
The hotel has 181 rooms, including the largest one-bedroom Penthouse in Mayfair with sweeping views of Green Park (137 rooms and 44 suites). Additionally, the hotel houses:
This urban oasis, built to BREEAM Excellent standards, used 80% of the existing structure, which was repurposed to reduce any negative environmental impact. It chose reconstruction over new construction.
Nature is woven into everything at 1 Hotels through biophilia-inspired design and practises, and 1 Hotel Mayfair’s design, layout, creativity, culture, narrative, and service are fundamental to celebrating sustainability. Using more than 500 square metres of live green trellised external walls, old hard surfaces are transformed into vertical natural landscapes. British Oak flooring, moss walls and Welsh slate bathroom vanities may be found in each of the 181 guest rooms. All across the property, from the living walls to the planting beds in the bedrooms, there are more than 200 plant kinds and 1,300 different plants.
As part of the brand’s mission-driven approach, 1 Hotel Mayfair has collaborated with modern artists to spread critical messages about how humans affect our natural habitats, including specially commissioned works like:
INSPIRING DINING LOCATIONS
The Dovetale restaurant and garden terrace of the 1 Hotel Mayfair features European classics and a great appreciation for seasonal, organic, and locally sourced products. It is run by two-Michelin-starred Chef Tom Sellers. A fresh spin on the traditional dessert will be produced at the table using a Knickerbocker Glory cart. The restaurant will be joined by the nearby destination cocktail bar Dover Yard, run by renowned mixologist Matteo Caretta. It features a dramatic backdrop of Yorkshire dry stone walls and handcrafted furnishings created by Katie Walker. Finally, during the day, Neighbours provides small snacks and barista-made ethical fair-trade coffee. Rattan panels that slide open as night falls change the ambiance during aperitif hour. Every weekend, a rotating music schedule with DJ sets and live performances by notable local musicians is presented.
OFFERINGS FOR TRANSFORMATIVE WELLNESS:
The Bamford Wellness Spa, which will be located in the wellness area on the first floor of the hotel, is scheduled to debut in late August. It will have three treatment rooms and a wide range of holistic services, including the “Digital Detox” and “Revive” customised treatments. The Field House, which includes a tranquil leisure space with a soothing colour scheme and a sizable gym, has cutting-edge Technogym equipment and an extensive roster of professionals and personal trainers.
PENTHOUSE AND SUITE BRAND NAMES
Modern additions to the property, the building’s newly built upper two floors have floor to ceiling windows that let in a lot of natural light. The extra levels double the building’s size and offer 35 exquisite rooms and large outside areas (including the
NEW HELDING PLACES
Dover Yard, a recently cobbled and now pedestrianised promenade, providing a peaceful outdoor public space that has been given to the neighbourhood. Between Berkeley Street and Dover Street, Londoners who are passing by can get a sense of the locals and the environment.
AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCES
The 1 Hotel Mayfair organises a range of activities for its visitors each month, including music series, panel discussions, special fitness classes, and pop-up shops for fashion and wellness. The Mayfair Tree Tapestry Tour is an illustration of this kind of programming; it offers a chance to discover Mayfair’s hidden gems using a specially constructed tree map that was created in partnership with The Tree Council, a local, independent organisation that has uncovered the amazing natural beauty right outside our door. Visit the website to learn more about the daily programming, which includes art tours and community dog walks.
